Joschua Beres is currently working on his Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies at The University of Colorado. He served as a Russian and French linguist in the US Air Force, US Army and Texas Army National Guard after graduating from the prestigious Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterey. After his military service, Joschua served with AmeriCorps where he predominantly worked with kindergarten through 3rd-grade students who were struggling with literacy resulting in many of his students reaching or exceeding grade-level reading expectations by the close of the school year.
Joschua continued to work in public education with 2nd through 5th-grade students with The PEAK Learning Center in the Adams 12 school district. There he tutored students in math, science, history and English while facilitating a mix of STEM activities. Joschua often organized projects designed to foster civic understanding and self-empowerment. He also worked as a Family Outreach Liaison during this time where he worked with kids struggling with poverty, abuse and homelessness.
Joschua has years of experience tutoring young adults seeking to learn English as well as high school and college students learning Russian and French. He currently lives in Boulder where he works on poetry, fiction and translation work when not being a total nerd for anything related to space science, history and linguistics.
