While children aren’t born with working memory, mental flexibility, or self-control, they can develop these skills with support from family members, educators, and caregivers. J2’s Academic Focus Coaching helps facilitate the development of a child’s executive function skills by establishing routines, modeling social behavior, and creating and maintaining supportive, reliable mentor relationships. We help children exercise their developing skills through activities that foster creative play and social connection, and over time, provide opportunities for directing their own actions with decreasing adult supervision. Our coaches encourage our youngest learners to try new strategies and approaches to solving problems, develop good homework habits, and provide academic support that leads to confidence in reading, math, and more. We make learning fun!
