John Faughnan

    John Faughnan was born and raised on the Jersey Shore. He attended Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Broadcast Journalism. After working in television production, retail management, and the hospitality industry, John moved to Boulder, Colorado where he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. At the University of Colorado, John studied Experiential Education and the Social Sciences eventually completing a Masters of Arts degree in Education as well as the requirements for Teacher Licensure in Colorado. Over the course of a 25-year teaching career, John had the opportunity to teach the full range of Social Studies course offerings at both the High School and Middle levels.

    Upon leaving the regular classroom in 2019, John moved to Northwest Washington where he has worked as an Outdoor Education facilitator as well as an Adjunct Faculty member with Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education.

    In addition to his academic work, John is a passionate reader of both history and fiction. A passion he enjoys sharing with others. When not working or reading he enjoys exploring the mountains and bays of the Pacific Northwest with his dogs and wife Mollie.
