Recent Diagnosis
Following a period of frustration, we had our son formally evaluated by a local neuropsychologist. We were relieved to find that there was a reason for our frustration and a name for what he had been experiencing. The doctor explained that while ADHD is the diagnosis, it is in the training of executive functions that will assist Jack in compensating for his focus challenges and impulsivity. She suggested that we call Just2 Tutoring for what she referred to as “boots on the ground” support for Jack. J2 set up weekly meetings, accountability calls and progress meetings which resulted in effect organization and productivity. ACT/SAT & College Preparation
Our family is very thankful for Jaz and Mike at Just2Tutoring. Our daughter worked with Mike over many sessions to raise her SAT scores over 100 points AND make her competitive for Engineering School. So far she has received three acceptances to Engineering Schools including her top choice at University of Colorado Boulder and expects to receive even more. Support for Education & LifeI’ve had a wonderful experience with Just2 Tutoring throughout high school. Peace at Home
This is the first Google Review I have ever written, because it’s the first time I have felt so compelled to share my thoughts about an organization. My son began working with Just2Tutoring after a terrible start to his freshmen year of high school. His father and I were hoping that once middle school was behind him, he would find his classes more engaging and that there would be greater opportunities to broaden his social circle. Instead, my son entered a larger and more demanding environment deficient of the most critical tools to succeed in high school, especially those involving executive functioning. For him, the move to high school was like being airdropped in Peru, and he spent the first semester wandering around, wondering why other students seemed to understand the language of the new environment, while rapidly finding himself among other’s who also lacked the navigation skills to succeed. A friend of mine, a former client of Just2Tutoring, who’s son was thriving in high school, learned of my son’s struggles and recommended Just2Tutoring. By this time, our home had become a bit of a war zone, because we knew our son was bright and capable and was just not producing. As parents, we were constantly arguing about supporting our son, or punishing him. What a relief it was when I contacted Just2 and was embraced by Jaz, a family therapist and the company’s co-owner. She completely understood my son’s needs and met with us almost immediately, including my son in his first session with one of their tutor/coach/mentors. My son entered the session begrudgingly, but after just an hour with a coach/tutor, left with a smile. It was the rapport my son developed with Just2’s unique staff of mentoring coaches that set them apart from the numerous tutors we had visited in the past. The tutor/coaches not only supported my son academically, but as a member of our family as well as his community. He learned how to communicate and develop relationships with teachers, which fostered measurable academic growth and almost immeasurable personal growth. Today, my son is a completing his junior year of high school almost unrecognizable from the student he entered freshmen year. We are confident he has developed the focus, time-management skills, and, above all, the confidence and integrity that will be required in college and in the years beyond. We are so grateful we found Just2Tutoring and their extraordinary team. Our only regret is we didn’t contact them years earlier, equipping our son with the tools prior to entering middle school and high school, when mastery of executive functioning skills becomes critical in these more complex environments.
